Dec 5, Ankle
It has not been a good start to the week. Got up early Monday morning and hung out with God. At 6:30 I braved the 17 degree weather to walk. I was about 20 minutes into the walk when my right ankle suddenly began to hurt. Felt as if someone had hit my ankle with a bat. No clue why. I didn't stumble or fall, it just started hurting. In fact, I took my shoe off and walked home. It was a little chilly on my toes.
Got home and noticed my ankle had begun to swell. Got to the church and the swelling continued but it was nothing compared to the pain. By 10:30 I couldn't sit still due to the pain. Long story short, went home and took some Loritab to get me through the afternoon. Had x-rays at 3:00. Nothing broken. Saw Dr. Bowman this morning first thing. By this point couldn't move ankle in any direction due to the swelling. After a two hour wait (hate waiting in dr. office) finally got into a room. Dr. Bowman immediately drained my ankle. I've had my knee drained several times but never my ankle.
Doc thought it might be gout to begin with but as he drained it began ruling that out because the fluid drained was blood. He continued to drain and was amazed at the amount of blood. Here is the bad part, blood isn't supposed to be in your joints. Still not sure what is wrong and won't know until blood test return. All I know is that I can sit still without pain once again. Soon as he finished draining ankle it felt better.
Sitting in lazy boy with ankle up in a fancy boot. Won't really know what is up until test return. To quote the doc, "I have some serious joint issues." Let know more once I find out.
Something to think about
So often in life we take for granted the little things, such as walking. I can't put any weight on my ankle. This causes problems, such as:
* walking
* taking a shower
* driving
* going to bathroom
Helps me remember just how fortunate I am.
