Nov. 30, Thankful

I had planned on posting this blog last Wednesday before we left for Virginia, didn't happen.  Sorry!  As I was driving to Virginia my family was all asleep and I began thinking about just how blessed I am.  This portion of scripture came to mind

Luke 17:11-19
Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. [12] As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance [13] and called out in a loud voice, "Jesus, Master, have pity on us!"  [14] When he saw them, he said, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." And as they went, they were cleansed. [15] One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. [16] He threw himself at Jesus' feet and thanked him--and he was a Samaritan. [17] Jesus asked, "Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? [18] Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?"

Jesus expects us to be thankful.  So during this time of the year, what are you most thankful for?  Here are my top ten:

1. My personal walk with Jesus.
I can't imagine life without Jesus.  The emptiness and void that Jesus fills is unexplainable.
2. My family and their salvation.
One day all of will spend eternity in heaven with Jesus.  (Praying for Hudson and Grayson already) These are my two Grand Sons
3. Debbie Herman, my precious wife.
Words can not explain or express just how thankful I am for a woman who loves and supports me, regardless!
4. Health
5. The opportunity to pastor 5 Point Fellowship
My life is all about a mission and not a job.
6. Life Change
I feel so fortunate to be able to see so many lives changed for the better.
7. 5 Point of Tabora
Never in a million years did I think we would be helping reach Africans thousands of miles away.  What an honor.
8. Safety and protection
9. Our home and the love found inside it.
10. The opportunity to fish (or just ride around the lake hoping to catch something)

Thoughts on Sunday:

* Deb and I went to Charlotte yesterday and worshiped at one of the fastest growing churches in America, Elevation.  They are only 4 years old and running around 5,000 with three different campuses.  It was amazing.  Learned a great deal about first impressions.
We both enjoyed it greatly.  SOme of the staff gave us the grand tour and answered all of our questions.  Stopped in Gaffney and had lunch with my sister.
* AND NO, I didn't miss because Clemson got beat by South Carolina.  This had been planned for over a month.  I's spoke 11 weeks in a row and just needed a break.  But anytime I'm not speaking I want to learn.  Couldn't think of a better place than Elevation.
* AND YES, I hate that USC won.  Rumor is Steve Spurrier called Dabo and said if they didn't let them win one they were going to cancel the series.  Tired of being humiliated year after year.
* Heard from several people Lawson did a great job.  Thanks LAW!
* Working on our new series now, X-MAS.  It is going to rock, promise!  Make sure your here and bring a friend.
