Today is Friday the 13th, supposedly a day of bad luck.  Do you believe in bad luck?  I often wonder when people claim they have bad luck if it truly is bad luck or just a pattern of bad choices.  The two seem to go hand in hand.  Don't get me wrong, there is such a thing as bad luck.  I enjoy playing Texas Hold Em with some buddies.  There have been nights I didn't get a good hand.  Bad luck I guess.  But here's the deal.  If I never win a hand and always claim its because I never get any cards, its not always the cards fault, it is mine.  I'm just not that good at playing poker. 

The same is true with life.  You can't constantly blame bad luck for all the problems of life.  Someone dear to me locked their keys in their car recently, claimed it was bad luck.  I don't think so.  That is just being careless or stupid.

God Word puts it this way:

Proverbs 11:5
The righteousness of the blameless makes a straight way for them, but the wicked are brought down by their own wickedness.

Do you have bad luck or are you just making very poor choices?
