Nov 12, Take for granted
Have you ever thought about what we take for granted? A trip out of America will show us just how fortunate we are. Not everywhere has:
* running water and toilets
* food everywhere
* paved roads
* police and fireman a phone call away
* cable tv and Internet at home, work and on our phones
The list could definitely go on but I think you get the picture. We take so much for granted.
I woke up sick early Wednesday morning. The stomach bug has attacked our family one person at a time and it finally caught me. I took three showers yesterday with intentions of trying to come in after each one. No way, entirely too sick. As I lay on the couch, bed, floor and even sat in lazy boy (trying to get comfortable) I realized just how fortunate I am to have good health. I seldom get sick. Maybe once a year and then it is only for a day or two.
I can remember my Mom's battle with cancer. She would have months of feeling miserable. Actually asking God to take her life to end the misery.
Why is it that we take our health for granted? If God has blessed us with a healthy body shouldn't we take care of it. If you read my blog much at all you know I have been trying to lose weight. In fact, I'm below 290. This is the lightest I've been since living in Pickens County. Next Tuesday will be another weigh in. Am I finished? Nope. I am going to honor God with my body. I want to enjoy my health and not just take it for granted. Want to live and work for Christ long as posible.
I said all that to ask this question, "do we ever take our walk with Christ for granted?" Just call on him when we need a quick fix with some type of problem in our life? When was the last time you spent quality time reading and praying? Spent time truly seeking God's will for your life? Never forget the price Christ paid for you and me. Never take your walk with Jesus for granted!
