Sept 14, Thoughts on Sunday
What an awesome day in the history of 5 Point Fellowship. We didn't make a big deal about it being our 5th birthday. In fact we made no mention of it at all. Not that doing so is wrong, we as a staff just didn't feel led to do so. But, in saying that what a great day for our church. A few of my thoughts:
* First and foremost, salvations took place in both services.
* Others stood but didn't go back. Not ready to take that step yet. Admitting they didn't know Jesus was the first step.
* Trying to get out of 5 costumes very quickly was tougher than I thought.
* But, it was an effective way to show people how we think about Jesus.
* The video Corey put together was great. Amazes me how Hollywood has literally brain washed people when it comes to Jesus.
* Message was very well taken. A lot of compliments but I especially love it when people who have been in church for many years tell me they hadn't heard that before. But, it also breaks my heart that churched people don't understand the basics of scripture.
* The song, "My Jesus" at end of message was awesome.
* I do believe Courtney (girl who sang solo) will be an awesome addition. First time I had heard her sing.
* Saw a lot of new faces. Always love that.
* Be interesting to see how many of the new faces we see next week.
* Kid Zone was busting at the seams. Had over 200 children yesterday. Unbelievable! This doesn't count volunteers.
* I've said this 100 times and I will continue to say it, "without the Kid Zone volunteers, 5 Point does not exist."
* Walked through between services yesterday thanking those people. From signing kids in to the actual acting on the stage. These volunteers play such a vital role in our church.
* Every volunteer is important and rocked yesterday. Only problem, I want to get everyone involved serving somewhere.
* Stage looked amazing. Love the colors and simplicity.
* An all time attendance high excluding last Easter Sunday.
* The IGNITE back to school bash was incredible.
* We had 165 teens.
* I know there were a bunch of salvations.
* I enjoyed welcoming every young person as they came across our parking lot. Miss hanging out with teens. The Youth Pastor still in me I guess. Dwain did a great job putting the event together.
* Thanks to all the adults who came and helped.
* Excited to see how this effects our youth ministry.
* I rarely say anything about numbers but I want to brag on God for a second. On our 5th birthday we had over 900 people.
Who would of ever thought we would see such an overwhelming blessing from God.
* Can we get over 1,000 by Christmas? Buckle up, were going for it. You'll hear a lot more about this in the upcoming weeks.
* The foundation of American Jesus was laid yesterday and we can move forward in the upcoming weeks. I promise you your going to be challenged to step up and start living for Christ. We need the people of god to begin making some noise in this country.
Some other thoughts:
* This weeks message is done and already working on next weeks.
* We may not be one of the fastest growing churches in America, but God is doing some remarkable stuff. Especially when you look at the Pastor.
* Next couple of blogs will be about what I'd do over and learned about Pastoring the past four years.
* Went home yesterday and slept. Felt amazing.
* I haven't fished in four or five weeks. The itch is coming back on strong. I'm trying to resist but not sure how much longer I can make it. I know, I have some serious issues.
* Took the staff to lunch today and just hung out with them. We didn't even talk much church staff. Just did life together.
* Continue to pray about our next location. Colony can't handle another doubling. Cool thing, God knows this. Can't wait to see what He has around the corner for us.
* Pray with me that we see life change like we"we never seen during American Jesus.
* New Spring baptized over 900 yesterday. Way to go guys!
