Aug 3, Thoughts on Sunday
Some thoughts about what took place at 5 Point Fellowship yesterday:
* I was expecting great things to happen for several reasons:
a. response from last week and since this was the second part of the message expected big things.
b. really begged God for life change.
c. main reason - the gospel was taught in a very clear and precise manner
* Worship was good but didn't blow me away. Might have been my frame of mind before stepping up on the stage.
* Enjoyed the choir. Nice to see some new faces on the stage. I continue to pray about more vocalist and musicians.
* As I stepped onto the stage and began teaching I wasn't sure what to expect. As the invitation was given for people to walk through
the door of salvation, not one person moved. I was heart broken to say the least. So many people who are so far from God and
just don't understand.
* As the second service began I wasn't sure if I had missed God. Began doubting myself. Had I not prepared as God wanted?
* As we began the invitation in the second service I wasn't prepared for what was about to happen. I moved to the side to get out of the
way and the flood of people began. I was still in the way and moved to the middle of the stage and was still in the way. I was so
moved I hit my knees and began praying for all the people who had come down.
* As we finished singing (Going through the motions-which was incredible) I asked all those who had walked through the door to
stand.
* 8 people stood and accepted Christ as their personal Savior. I am so addicted to life change. It was incredible.
* As I asked them to leave and speak to a counselor, I asked everyone who had come forward and repented of going through the
motions to stand. I was shocked at the number of people standing, admitting they were going through the motions.
* I was over joyed at how God moved in the second service. I'm guessing at least 40 - 50 people came forward.
* Just found out 8 people tearfully gave their life to Jesus.
* REALLY COOL, some have been in church for years.
* REALLY SAD, some of the vert people I am praying for by name never budged. I will continue to beg God to soften hearts!
* Had a Mom come up to me and say thank you, her son had come forward.
* Numerous people shook my hand and said thank you with tear filled eyes. The real thanks belongs to Jesus our King.
* Thank you Jesus for moving and changing lives!
* Went home totally exhausted. Unless your a pastor, you don't understand the stress of teaching that type of lesson, twice.
* After lunch I slept from 2:00 until 4:00. It was awesome. Watched TV until 5:00.
* The family and I went to New Spring for their 6:00 pm service. A friend on staff there allowed us to go into the balcony which was
closed. Was able to enjoy an awesome 95 minute service. Perry spoke 65 minutes. He really upset some people I'm sure.
* Finished the night off by taking the family to Outback. A couple in the church had given me a $50.00 gift certificate. Thank you guys.
* Sunday was a great day.
Some other thoughts:
* Spoke to Renatus (pastor in Africa) and th eland owner accepted the $6,000 offer. 5 Point of Africa has land. They are further ahead
than 5 Point of Easley. It is so cool to ba part of a church that wants to make a difference.
* Had an awesome devotion time early this morning. Read the book of 1 Peter and prayed.
* Already have the meat of this Sunday done. Going to have a lot of fun. We'll be talking about how we use our mouths. This is a
message for the pastor himself for sure!
* Calling the owner of Wal-Mart this week just to touch base. Continue to pray for a GOD SIZED miracle.
* Getting ready to head to staff meeting.
* Feel pretty certain our next big series (starting in September) will be called, "Who is Jesus to you?" Our culture has such a distorted
view of Jesus. I just want to teach people who Jesus is, what Jesus is and what he expects from us.
* Already know the topic of two or three of the messages.
* Deb has to go back to work next week. She is not a happy camper. I enjoy her being at home.
* Jacob starts full pads football practice today. Said he was going to lay someone out. Such a Herman!
* Andrew finishes summer school this Thursday.
* I have another vehicle in the shop.
* Hud man threw up twice on my living room carpet yesterday while I was asleep.
* Life is good and enjoy serving the King!
