July 6, Thoughts on Sunday
Before I discuss Sunday I'd like to say something about Saturday, July 4th. We had our second 4th of July celebration in the parking lot of the church. We had free inflatables, rock climbing wall, bungee jump, and train ride for the kids. We also had free hot dogs, cotton candy, pop corn, drinks and snow cones. I don't want to leave out face painting, by the way it was free also. I'm not even going to guess at the thousands of people that came through.
My purpose in sharing this is to say thank you to all the volunteers. The ones in the light blue shirts. All of you were simply amazing. Please know your efforts are making a difference in the lives of others. THANK YOU for caring about your community. To reach people no one is reaching we have to do things no one is doing. Saturday was definitely different. 150 people loving on thousands of people. WOW!
There were volunteers standing on all four corners handing out 5 Point cards. When people find themselves hurting and in a mess, they'll remember that church down the street giving away and not asking. Our church will reap great benefits from events such as the egg drop and Saturday. Again, thank you so much for helping make these events so successful.
As for Sunday:
* Great day at 5 Point
* Message was one ALL of us needed to hear. We are so blessed in America and yet we complain so much.
* Amazing to see so many people willing to stand and ask God to forgive them for complaining.
* Music was great. Loved Jeniffer's solo. Gotta admit, Curtis singing "Lucky Man" was very cool.
* Kid Zone had 200 today. Amazing since it was the 4th of July weekend.
* We had over 250 more people in attendance yesterday than the same weekend last year. So cool!
* Corey did a great job with the stage and lights.
* Felt really god about the message. Some days feel better than others and today was good.
* Complaint zapper video was excellent.
* I went too long again in the first service. Causes problems in Kid Zone. Getting first service children out and second signed in is a lot tougher when I go too long. I gotta get better about that.
* Had some visitors who came to our 4th celebration.
* We'll continue to see visitors for months to come form Saturday.
Some other random thoughts:
* staff meeting at my house today. Meeting at 10:00 to evaluate yesterday service with Tim & Corey.
* Deb is cooking lunch for everyone. Love these guys. Very dedicated to reaching people.
* Worked out with my personal trainer for first time this morning. I'll be sharing about my weight loss a good bit. Weighed in at 300.
Were doing a raw diet this week. I can only eat raw foods. Nothing cooked. Basically, fruits, vegetables and nuts.
* We did a 50 minute cardio work out. I did some stuff I haven't done since football days. I'll keep you informed.
* Really excited about this weeks service. Doing some different stuff with worship and I've been going 46 years.
* Enough for today. Hope you have a great day and remember, do something radical for Jesus.
