May 12, Things I"m thinking about
A lot is going on in the life of 5 Point and I wanted to share some of these things with you.
* Joe Sangle will be here this Sunday and Wednesday. You want to be here for both to suck in every word he has to say. Joe has a gift for teaching what God says in His Word about how to handle money. He is much better and more knowledgeable than myself. If you haven't signed up for the class on Wednesday evening just go to www.debtfreeeasley.com and do so.
* Baptism is next week. What a great way to worship Jesus than seeing new believers baptized into the family of God.
* 4th of July is right around the corner. We are making plans now to serve our community once again. We'll have blow ups for the children, hot dogs, pop corn, snow cones, cotton candy drinks and a lot of friendly smiles. We are expecting thousands of people and will need a lot of help. We will begin sign ups this Sunday. Make sure you give us your t-shirt size. Really cool shirts for all the volunteers.
* Summer is approaching quickly. I don't believe God takes the summer off nor should we. Yes, everyone needs a vacation including me and the family. But taking three out of four Sundays off isn't pleasing to Christ. Lets continue to grow even though churches aren't supposed to during the summer.
* Lawson will be speaking for me while I'm in Africa. He always does a good job. I'm fortunate to have someone who can teach the Bible and do a great job.
* We've already begun making plans for our next series called Dean's Works. Just a bunch of random messages I've been wanting to teach.
* Ann is always busy trying to get people volunteering in the correct positions.
* I've been really impressed with Dewayne over the past months. he has a true passion for teens. He is working on summer camp and Sunday evening services.
* Michelle never slows down working with our kids in Kid Zone. Lawson does so much to help her. We couldn't have Sunday mornings without all the Kid Zone volunteers.
* Tim & Corey make everything on the stage happen. I'm amazed at how much effort they put into Sunday mornings. To say Tim is always busy is an understatement.
* Our home groups continue to grow. Burl had never worked with home groups but was more than willing to give it a shot. He has done a marvelous job thus far.
* As a staff we have no desire to slow down this summer. Satan doesn't take the summer off and we shouldn't either.
