April 9, Imitating
Every morning I take Jacob to school. Deb has to be at the school earlier and this allows Jacob to sleep a little longer and I enjoy the time with him. Last week I saw a man walking on a cold spring morning. I pulled over and he immediately jumped in. He got in the back seat of my truck which isn't very big. Soon as he closed the door his foul odor filled the truck. I could see that Jacob was trying to cover his nose so the man couldn't see him. I dropped Jacob off at school and then took the man to his desired destination.
The man had told us he'd been walking for a while and hundreds of cars had passed him by. I believe him due to Liberty traffic every morning. Not one person had offered him a ride. I was able to share the gospel with him and invite him to church. He is living with his father - n law with some really tough circumstances. He was going to help someone cut down a tree. I enjoyed getting to know the man very much.
That evening Jacob and I discussed the mornings events. He wanted to know hwy he stunk so bad. Hard trying to explain to him that not everyone is as fortunate as us. As we talked he began to realize that is was a very kind gesture to help this man. He ended the conversation by stating that Jesus would have been pleased. If we don't teach our children to look for opportunities to serve others, who will?
During this Easter season, what a better way to show thanks to Christ than by helping one of his children. Look for the opportunities,
they are everywhere.
