March 25, Things I'm scared of part two
Things I'm scared of part 2
4. Failing my staff
God has surrounded me with an awesome staff. I love them, depend on them and do life with them. I think of them as much more than staff, I think of them as friends. The thought of messing up morally or in any other form scares the life out of me. I so desire to see each of them succeed in what God has called them to do I personally pray for them and try to help them as much as I can. But, I also understand that as the pastor of 5 Point a lot of their success lies on my shoulders. You may take that as arrogance, but trust me, it isn't. It's a responsibility I take very seriously and unless your a pastor, you'll never understand.
5. Getting in God's way
We have so many great things happening at 5 point, thank you Lord Jesus. I am praying we double on Easter Sunday and I actually believe we will. I'm praying for 150 salvations during our three services. I'm begging God to literally use us to win our community and I'm actually naive enough to believe it is going to happen. But, I'm scared to death of doing something stupid or making the wrong decision that brings this movement to a screeching halt. Guess what I'm saying is that I'm scared I'll miss God. If you pray for me, please pray that 'll never miss God. That I'll stay in the center of His Will. I pray that God would remove me before he would allow me too mess up what is happening here.
6. Not finishing well
You don't receive the trophy for starting well or for running well in the middle of a race. You receive the trophy because you finished well. I'm well into the middle and probably more towards the end of my race. I want to finish well. I want to hear Jesus say, "Well done Dean."
How do I do that? By always putting God first, my family second and doing my absolute best to serve my Savior.
Some random thoughts:
* Jacob got really sick yesterday evening. Been working from home this morning. Deb will be here after lunch and I'll head to office.
* Almost have Sunday morning finished. Couple hours of peace and quiet in office and message will be complete.
* Spending tomorrow in Seneca at Foothills community church with a bunch of other pastors. Really looking forward to hanging out with these guys. They have so much knowledge and experience. I always learn much more form them than they do me.
* It is pouring the rain. We need it.
* Been working on next week most of this morning. You talk about eye opening. The videos and songs we're using to help bring the Bible to life is simply amazing. I truly believe some people will have an eye opening experience.
* A man who attends our church got us an incredible deal on drinks. We bought 160 cases of Coke products at $3.00 a case. That is $3.00 for 24 cans of drinks. WOW! But, we still need you to bring Coke products (in can's) and water by the church for the egg drop. We will give away thousands of drinks.
* We've had several well meaning people ask if we wanted sponsors for this event. Please understand businesses get really tired of only hearing form churches when they want money. No, I'm not asking anyone to support this event but the people of our church. If you have bought into our vision, then you know were all about doing things no one else is doing so we can reach people no one is reaching. And to do this we have to spend some money, We will spend over $10,000 on this event. Why, because we happen to believe people are worth it. A first time child told Debbie last week that they came because of our 4th of July event. Almost a year later and they came. It works.
* Deb and a bunch of the ladies from the church are attending a ladies conference this Friday and Saturday. Sounds like a night on the town for me and my boys. Outback and a movie. Yeah baby!
* Continue to deal with several marriages on the brink of divorce. Begging God for miracles.
* Enough for today. Gotta get ready to go swim 20 plus laps and ride the stationary bike and finish with some mileage on the treadmill.
Starting to put all three elements of tri together. I am too old for this.
