February 18, Growing up
Monday night the Clary family came over and had dinner with us. I held Grayson on my chest while he slept and just admired how handsome this child is. I kissed his little head over and over. Once he began to cry, I handed him back to Momma.
I tried to lay down in the floor but it wasn't long until Hudson was using me as his personal trampoline. In between the jumps I kissed his head a bunch also. I love my Grandsons dearly.
But, if two years from now Grayson was still the size of a three week old and Hudson continued to use me as his trampoline, I'd be somewhat concerned to say the least. Children are supposed to grow, not remain the same.
The same is true with children of God. We are to grow in our walk with Christ. Not get saved and then walk around crying every time something doesn't go our way and poop in our diapers. The Bible says it this way:
1 Peter 2:2
Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation,
As a pastor I have the incredible honor and privilege of seeing people give their life to Jesus and watch them grow spiritually. But I also watch people get saved and years later there has been no growth at all.
The vision of this church is to reach people with the love of Jesus and teach them how to love like Jesus. We want more than just reaching people. We want to see people grow deeper in their faith so they can truly impact their community. If you're a baby believer and you've been one for years, don't you think its about time to seek Jesus in a real and ADULT like manner?
Begin in the Word of God and in prayer. Find a Bible believing and teaching church. Find a place to serve in that church and watch how God can use you!
