January 22, Criticsm

Any time your in a position of leadership your going to be criticized.  There is no way around it, you can't make everyone happy.
Years ago I took all criticism as me doing something wrong.  That simply isn't the case.  In fact, Ive come to find out that if
you’re being criticized, you’re probably doing something right!  Check out this quote I found by Theodore Roosevelt:

“It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbled or where the doer of deeds could have done them better.  The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena; whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, and comes short again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; who does actually try to do the deed; who knows the great enthusiasm, the great devotion and spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the worse, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly.  Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory or defeat.”

Right now I'm being criticized for some of the methods we use to reach people for Jesus.  As I spend hours on my face each week
seeking God's Will in my life and the direction of 5 Point, I've become very secure in the vision of this church.  Will we always make everyone happy?  No.  But as long as we continue to see lives changed for Jesus, I'm perfectly at peace with that.

Tomorrow I'll share what criticized can do to someone.

Couple of thoughts:
* Just finished Sunday morning and I am jacked up about it.  Going to really challenge our people.
* Getting ready to head to the hospital in a little while.  Michelle will be having that baby sometime today (we hope).
* Having a meeting with some women next week to help me with Fabulous, our woman series.
* Already working on next Sunday, talking about forgiveness.
* Spoke with some of the people that gave their life to Jesus Sunday night.  Truly believe it was the real deal.
* Had some people get upset about not allowing children into auditorium.  I sincerely hate that, but were sticking with it.
* I've also had A LOt of people tell me thank you over the same issue.
* During the course of this week I've had to deal with some pretty sad situations.  I never get use to this part of pastoring.
   My heart hurts for people so far from God and i for others who hurt so due to life.
* Speaking of criticism, I'm sure this will bring some.  On Sunday February 1st, the Super bowl will be played.  Nothing will be
   taking place at the church.  Not fighting it.  the majority of men won't come anyway and being honest, I wanna watch the game.
