January 14, Love Dare
This past Sunday evening our church began Fireproofing our marriages. Everyone involved was encouraged to go through the 40 Love Dare Journal. If you have no idea what I'm talking about let me explain. Fireproof is a movie about a couple on the verge of divorce. Caleb (the husband) is challenged by his Dad to go through a journal that consisted of 40 days with each day having a dare for his spouse.
I'm going through the Love Dare myself with my wife Debbie. Today's dare was to buy something nice for your spouse. I wasn't sure what to get Deb. So, let me share with you what I came up with. Deb and I have been married for 28 years. I bought 28 red roses with each representing a year of our marriage. I then wrote out what each number represented. I then preceded to deliver the roses myself to Deb's work place.
I shared this so you'd be able to see my romantic side. Not really, but to let you know that I'm smoking what I'm selling. I'm reading the Love Dare journal everyday and doing exactly what it says. I have a burden for the marriages of our church and community and that includes my own. Husbands & wives, don't quit. Hang in there for the entire 40 days and I can promise you it will make a huge difference.
A few thoughts:
* A gentleman who has been attending 5 Point about a year just left my office. So close to accepting Jesus as Savior.
Praying this Sunday is his day.
* This Sunday is going to rock. Wish it was here right now. Bring friends. There will be life change.
* Been really busy around here today. The staff does such a good job.
* Had an awesome prayer time today. Really searching God's Will on a few things.
* Cold weather is coming and I dread it.
* Pray for me as I prepare Fabulous (our woman series) because I don't have a feminine bone in my body.
But I realize this is a series that needs to be done.
* God is doing some incredible things here. Pray along with me that we get on the wave of momentum and ride it.
