January 13, Right place at the Right time
I love to deer hunt. It truly is a way for me to get away from everyday life. This past November I was in the right place at the right time. Andrew and I went to Gaffney to hunt with Roger Poole (long time friend and hunting buddy). I wanted to hunt on a power line in hopes of catching one crossing. Had 3/4 mile walk down power line. As I topped the hill two deer were at the bottom feeding. I got into position and it wasn't 5 minutes before a awesome buck came walking out.
I watched him for a few minutes allowing a better shot. I'd been watching him through binoculars and didn't realize he was over 250 yards away. As I laid down the binoculars I immediately grabbed my rifle and placed the cross hair on his heart. The deer had stopped and was standing broadside. I squezed the trigger only to see dirt fly between his legs. I knew instantly what had happened. The bullet had dropped because I had forgotten how far he was.
Here is the bizarre part, the deer never flinched. He stood perfectly still. Now I began to shake. Trying to hold the cross hairs (higher up on his body) I told myself to calm down and once again squeezed the trigger. Perfect hit. The deer ran to the bottom of the hill and expired. I called Andrew and told him to come and help Dad drag the 200 pound, nine point out of the woods. This is the picture I took with my cell phone where he expired.

I truly believe I was in the right place at the right time. I also believe God places us in the right place at the right time to accomplish His will. But what happens is that we either don't ake the shot or miss. Lets say I had been 10 minutes later, I would never have seen this deer. Someone else would have sooner or later and they would have had the opportunity to receive such a blessing.
All of us must understand, God wants to use us, He purposely places us into situations in which we can glorify His name. The problem is that so many times we never pull the trigger. Too nervous, we've missed before, didn't get there in time, whatever. Then God allows someone else to receive the blessings.
Jesus encountered a woman at the well. This woman met Jesus as her Savior and then told others. God purposely had this woman at the well the exact moment Jesus Christ showed up. No accident. And because of her, many came to know Jesus.
John 4:42
They said to the woman, "We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world."
Are you taking the shot? Are you leading people to Jesus? If not, God will use someone else. Go ahead, pull the trigger and see what God does!
