December 29, Thoughts on Sunday
This will be my last post for the year of 2008. I'll be headed to Jacksonville for the Gator Bowl at 5:00 am in the morning. Have a tee time at 1:37. Really looking forward to the trip. Andrew, (my 20 year old son) Lawson, (son-in-law) and Dr. Ryan Calhoun (great friend) will all be tagging along. I'll be staying with Jerry Rigsbee (married to my Mom while she was living) who only lives 12 miles from the stadium. I'll begin posting again next Monday and have a goal to post every day but Saturdays.
Thoughts on yesterdays service:
* 5 more people gave their life to Jesus. Praise God for life change!
* Worship was great.
* Steve Harvey introducing Jesus followed by singing Glory to God was awesome. Easy to teach after that.
* I am blown away by what God is doing here right now.
* We had double the people & took in twice as much money as one year ago yesterday.
* A bunch of first time visitors on a Sunday when most churches are way down in attendance.
* Michelle is getting all her volunteers ready for her to be out a few weeks after the baby is born. Kid Zone volunteers ROCK!
* Hope she doesn't have my grand son until after the Gator Bowl. I want to be here when it is born. Alright, I would come back!
* Our Jesus for Dummies series was a huge success. People learned a lot about our Savior and a bunch of people came to know
Jesus personally.
* Jesus will return and I'm excited about it.
Some other thoughts running through my head:
* Promoted "Fireproof" big time. Hope we pack this place out next Sunday night to watch it.
* On January 11th we start our marriage improvement using Fireproof curriculum. Can't wait to see lives changed. We'll also be
starting, First Place (weight lose) New Believers class, Debt free living class and the youth will continue to meeting.
* Looking forward to our staff meeting today. Asking our staff some tough questions.
* Missed Andrea and Jeniffer singing yesterday.
* Have already began thinking about how to do three services. Were about to head into a very good growth time leading into Easter.
* Would love to have three services on Easter Sunday.
* How I can lead our church to another level this year?
* How I can better myself?
* The staff and I just finished The Blessed Life. I would encourage every follower of Christ to read it. We have them here at 5 Pt.
* We began reading The Next Generation Leader by Andy Stanley this week. All of us must lead better so we can lead more.
* Really looking forward to getting away to Jacksonville. Go Tigers.
* If you want to talk to me, please don't try and do it immediately after worship as I'm greeting people. That is very stingy on your part
and doesn't allow me to speak to others. If you'd like to talk, set up an appointment please.
* Trying something new with our worship this quarter. Think you'll like it.
* Please be praying with me that th year 2009 will be absolutely incredible.
* Dreaming Big because I serve a BIG GOD!
