December 18, Death without Jesus

I am not God.  I do not judge people or decide where they'll spend eternity.  But, when someone has told me on several occasions they are not ready to accept Jesus as Savior, leads me to believe they'll spend eternity apart from Jesus.  Last Saturday was the first funeral I'd done (that I know of) with someone not knowing Christ.  My heart was broken for the family and friends because I couldn't say he was in a better place.

During the funeral it had snowed 4 - 5 inches and I wasn't about to drive my cousins PT Cruiser to the graveyard which was a good distance away.  So, I rode with the body in the hearse which was a 4 wheel drive Yukon.  Talk about different!!!!!!!
On the way to the grave yard I asked Travis (funeral home employee) how many funerals they average a year.  Told me they do around 350 a year.  He has worked there for ten years.  That is 3,500 funerals Travis had been a part of.

Next question to Travis, "Have you ever heard of someone going to hell?"  Wish you could have seen the look on his face, it was priceless.  After he thought for a second he replied with a very shallow "no."  Here is my question for all of us, "does everyone go to heaven and spend eternity with Jesus?"  I believe Jesus answers that question for us:

Matthew 7:13-14
"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. [14] But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

Our job isn't to determine where people will spend eternity, but it is our job to lead as many people as possible to a loving relationship with Jesus.  Death without Jesus is awful.  If you have friends or family that you love, call them and share what Christ has done in your life.  I've already made some calls this week because I have loved ones who haven't accepted Christ as Savior.

If they live in our area, invite them to worship this Sunday.  Its going to be awesome.  Lives are going to be changed.  The gospel will be presented in a way you've never seen, I promise.  Pray like you've never prayed before that God will show up and show out this Sunday.  Eternity is at stake!
