December 15, Thoughts on Sunday
Hey Guys Tim here. Dean asked me to share a few thoughts on Sunday since he was not here due to a funeral, so here goes.
Lawson jumped in a did a great job filling in for Dean at the last minute. It is always reassuring when you have someone you trust and someone you know will do a good job just sitting out it the bullpen ready to come in. I was a little bit on the nervous side yesterday, but not for me, it was for Lawson. I was afraid that he would come out and people would not be able to take him seriously because he has made it a habit to try and make himself look stupid during announcements. NEWS FLASH (LAWSON IS A STINKING GENIUS)!!!!!!! Don't ever think that he is just some guy who comes up on Sunday mornings and makes a fool of himself, because he is sooo much more than that. He is an awesome man of God who lives what he says. And believe me he is more excited about what Christ is doing at 5 Point and in our lives than any Bon Jovi concert (if you were not here yesterday that may not make sense). Having said that I am surprised that Lawson didn't wear a New York Jets jersey with some dark sunglasses, but then again I can't play guitar like Richie Sambora, so good choice to not wear the jersey Lawson. Enough rambling from me, and on to the points. What is Jesus Doing Today? Here are the main points from the talk yesterday. {1. Sitting at the right hand of God 2. Being worshiped 3. Interceding as our living mediator 4. Preparing our mansion 5. With us as we share Jesus 6. Preparing for his return} As I sat and listened to the message yesterday, I couldn't help but to relate to point 5 in a real way. WITH US AS WE SHARE JESUS!! Did you get that? He is with us all the time even when we think we are inadequate to share the love of Jesus. Matthew 18-20 says this 18Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Our job is to tell others about Jesus, not sit on the back row of a concert and enjoy the show, but we are to get down in the stinking mosh pit and be part of the action. Go tell others because he is with us ALWAYS! GREAT JOB LAWSON!!!!!
So to keep things in line with Dean, I am going to put some random thoughts on here about the service and anything else that runs through my mind.
* Christmas songs are not my favorite thing to do, and looking at the people singing, I don't think it's their favorite either, but everyone say they love them after the service, so maybe I'm just confused. I do like singing them a little more this year though.
* Daniel to a great job on It Came Upon a Midnight Clear
* Andrea nailed I Can Only Imagine (the guys in the band came up with that arrangement Great Job Guys!)
* Attendance was down a little bit, but I am sure people were trying to beat the rush to the malls to do some Christmas shopping
* Thanks to all the people who gave to help our Angel Tree type project this year. 50+ kids will have a good Christmas because of the love of Christ Shining through you guys.
* THANK YOU DALE AND SUSAN PICKENS!!! Susan you did an amazing job with this Christmas project thanks a ton. And Dale you did a great job supporting and following orders that were given to you during the project. I'm glad Susan knows what she is doing because if it were up to Dale and I afraid we would have failed at this miserably.
* Cool stuff going on before and during the service this week be on time it's gonna be so cool!!!!
* Was supposed to fish this afternoon with Mike Durham, but looks like Tuesday is the day we're going.
* I hope the stinking Chicago Cubs can win the stinking World Series next year
* I'm a Clemson fan, can't stand the Gamecocks, but my love for the Cubs has made me begin to feel like a Gamecock fan. You watch every game, you think everything is in line for NEXT YEAR and "NEXT YEAR" never happens. Oh by the way us Tiger fans can't say to much about that, unless we start comparing head to head records, then we can rub it in!
* Doing the Twelve Days of Christmas this week, it's gonna be fun
* Dean did get to fly out of Washington State with a foot of snow on the ground, thought he wasn't gonna make back today, but looks like he will.
I think that is all I have for now, if anyone wants to contact me directly to talk about any of my comments, email me at tim@5pointfellowship.org
Thanks
Tim
