November 24, Thoughts on Sunday
Some thoughts on Sunday's two worship experiences:
* I hate talking about giving, but it was a question that needed to be answered.
* Could hear a pin drop while discussing how much was given here a couple weeks ago. Had over 600 in attendance and took in $6,000. 180 of those came from the children's side. Three families gave $1,000 a piece, 12 gave an average of $120. That left over 400 people and between them they gave a total of $600. The reality that very few are given was realized.
* Giving is a heart thing. We give to what we love.
* Couldn't believe the number of people who had been crying as they came out.
* I believe Jesus spoke to a lot of people about what they spend their money on.
* Thought the Rowland's testimony on video brought home the point.
* I blame nobody but myself for our people not understanding the Biblical principle of giving. I have neglected the topic.
* Loved Andre singing Hosanna.
* Children's theater had 180 again. Running out of room.
* Met numerous visitors. Love seeing new faces.
* Saw new people serving in new areas. Loving it.
* So good to see a bunch of teens all over the place.
* Dwain Simmons (Youth Pastor dude) is going full time. We're just stepping out and believing God will provide.
* More people wanting to join 5 Point.
* Numerous e-mails sharing how excited they are about what is happening in their life and the life of 5 Point.
* Attendance was down a few people but great for how cold the weather was.
* God is stirring and I'm jacked up about what is going on.
Some other random thoughts:
* I killed a 200 pound 9 point buck over the weekend. It was an awesome experience. Andrew was only a 500 yards from me and he helped me find the deer and drag it out. Great experience with my son.
* Heading to Virginia some time tomorrow.
* Prayed for an hour and half this morning asking God to truly speak to me about this weeks message. I've never touched the topic of divorce. Pray for me. PRay for God to speak to hearts with me.
* Short staff meeting today due to shorter week.
* Two more home groups formed this past weekend. Burl is doing a great job.
* Pray for all the staff, they do such a great job.
* I love the Holiday season but hate the business of it.
* While in Virginia I'll be preparing for our next series, "Jesus for Dummies."
* Continue to pray about our permanent home. Seeking god's will in this matter.
* Youth had an awesome service last night.
* Can't wait to get started with our January marriage series on Sunday evenings. Praying to see real life change.
* Every time I work on marriage stuff I think about my marriage and how short I fall at times. I love Deb more and more when I realize how much I've put her through. Can't believe she has stuck with me all these years. She must really love me.
* God never ceases to amaze me in how He meets our every need.
Enough for today, gotta keep plugging away on Sunday morning.
