November 17, Thoughts on Sunday
I apologize for not writing the past few days. To say it has been extremely busy is an understatement. Today the staff met for several hours after an awesome time of prayer. Met with a couple for over two hours this afternoon and barely made it home for dinner at 6:30. Even though its late I wanted to share some thoughts about yesterday:
* Yes, I said the word orgasm from the stage. Numerous people gasped.
* Yes, we discussed oral sex, masturbation and living together.
* Its way past due that the church addressed sexual matters.
* All I was doing was answering your questions.
* I could see the hurt in so many peoples eyes. This is called conviction.
* Tyler Grisham (number 13 on the Tigers football team) did a great job of sharing how not everyone is doing it.
* Had a 75 year old woman tell me after the service that this type of message needed to be taught 50 years ago.
* Great attendance again. Only a few away from setting another all time high.
* Finished our marriage improvement with how to fight fair until January.
* Continue to see great things happen with our youth on Sunday nights.
* Jeniffer flat tore up her solo.
* Good to see Andrea on stage again. Love her energy.
* Grant played the key board and base guitar on keyboard at same time. WOW! I can't imagine.
* Message really connected with people.
* Made plans today to have someone with me before and after services. HAd numerous people want to talk with me about their life which usually means sharing about how bad life stinks. I can't handle this before I speak. Don't be alarmed when someone steps in to help.
* The children's side continues to grow. Adult worship continues to grow. Began discussing third service during staff meeting. So excited about the life change taking place.
* Continue to beg God to keep all of us humble, united, excited and in the center of His will.
* Much better offering.
* Numerous visitors again.
* Second service was a lot of fun due to their energy. First service needs to get a little more rowdy!
* As I stood behind the screen praying and singing I couldn't wait to come out and share what God had laid on my heart. Feel the same way already about this Sunday. Going to be the best money message you've ever heard. Not arrogance, just excitement about what God has laid on my heart to answer the question, "Why does the church always want my money?"
Other random thoughts:
* Meeting with my three coaches in the morning and can't wait.
* Worked out like a beast today. Want to work out days a week.
* Got my teeth cleaned at 8:00 this morning. Not a good way to start the week.
* Love our staff. They do such an awesome job.
* Looking forward to the Christmas season. We got our tree out of the attic this evening. The thing is huge!
* As I met with a couple this afternoon I felt there was no hope unless God truly intervenes. This is part of the ministry I don't enjoy. Praying for a miracle.
* It's 9:30 and I'm exhausted. Taking a shower and heading to bed after reading and praying with Jacob.
* 5:30 am is almost here. But, I get to hang out with God during that time!
