Novemebr 12, Less should equal more
I was up around 5:25 this morning and started a new book. Vintage Jesus by Mark Driscol. Chapter one rocked!
I'll give you my thoughts on it after I get a little deeper. Finished reading Jeremiah. I've already read through the New Testament this year and making my way through it again. Read something in John that really hit me.
John 3:30
He must become greater; I must become less.
People were asking John if it was OK that Jesus was baptizing people and not him. John was trying to help the people understand that all of us must become less in order for Jesus to become more. I stopped here and began thinking about the areas we ALL must become less so that Jesus can become more. Here are a few:
* When your in a group of people do you want to talk more about yourself or Jesus?
* Do your thoughts consist of Jesus or of the world?
* Does Jesus fit into your schedule?
* How much of your money is spent on Jesus?
* Is Jesus the center of your family or just the Sunday morning thing to do?
Where God really spoke to me about being less so he could be more:
* Is Jesus the leader of 5 Point or is Dean?
* Do I care more about Jesus changing lives or drawing a crowd?
* Am I relying on the power of God or on the strengths of Dean?
For us to become the men and women of God we're to be we must become less so that HE can become more!
Some random thoughts:
* Kyle and Courtney (have began worshiping here) just left my office. Really good to meet them and chat for a
while. A very Godly couple - she gave me a outback gift card ![]()
* Had an awesome prayer time with the staff today. I just wanted for all of us to stop what we were doing and
cry out to God. I love these guys. They do such a good job.
* Talking about sex this Sunday. Begging God to open peoples minds and hearts to the truth of sex.
* Going to New Spring in the morning for the coaching network and I can't wait.
* Next week we'll be looking at the question, why does the church always want my money? Following week, is
divorce the unpardonable sin? New topic for me.
* Already thinking about Jesus for Dummies which begins in December.
* Met with a pastor friend today dealing with some stuff. Ministry can be so tough.
* Met with three coaches early on Tuesday morning from our church. Doing an accountability time and walking
our way through Exodus. Have begun praying for God to do something incredible in these guys lives to begin a
revival at Liberty High.
