Daddy (Pastor Dean) asked me to be a guest blogger for today. He wanted me to share my heart about being the Children’s Minister at 5 Point!
To start off I want to say THANK YOU!! It is such an honor to say that I get to serve God by doing the exact things I love. Working with children was always a passion of mine. Always thought I wanted to teach until I did it for 2 years in Raleigh. (Our teachers need more and more support-they have a very tough job.) When Lawson and I moved back down here I worked for a chiropractor in Clemson. Loved my boss and enjoyed my job, but never felt like I was doing exactly what God had called me to do. Once I got pregnant with Hudson doors starting opening for me to be able to stay at home with him. This was always a dream of mine- to have lots of babies and stay at home with them. Didn’t know exactly what the Lord had in store. 5 Point started growing and was in need of a Children’s person. For the 1st time in a while I felt as if all the pieces were coming together. I was able to live my dream life-have babies, stay at home with them, and be able to serve the Lord while working with more children.
It has been amazing to be apart of this process. I love everything about my job; the people I work with, being able to be in the process of children coming to know the Lord, and knowing I get paid to serve an ALMIGHTY GOD. I remember telling daddy that I would take on the role, but didn’t want to miss church. Well, that was about 2 ½ years ago, and can count on 1 hand how many times I have been to “Big Church.” My heart and passion is in The Zone now. It is so neat to see the smiles on the adults and children as they leave. You feel as if your job was done.
The Zone had 175 on Sunday. Do you know how awesome that is..??? I was so tired after the service, but so jacked up at the same time. Kids were everywhere. What an awesome problem to have. The Lord is blessing and it is so cool to be apart of. One of the best things about being apart of The Zone is all the volunteers. We have around 35 volunteers that have committed to at least 6 months of service. They have a heart to see the children grow in the Lord as well. It is so COOL to see kids excited to see their teachers each Sunday. There are relationships that are being made, and it is amazing to be apart of it. Without these AWESOME workers The Zone would crash. Thanks to all of you who serve no matter what. You know I Love You Guys and Gals!!
With that being said when you have that many kids we need more WORKERS!! The more we grow the more this will become a problem. I am needing more small group leaders, nursery workers, greeters; well just about everything is going to need to double!! If you are interested PLEASE LET ME KNOW!! I promise the kids don’t bite, and you will have many special memories by working with them.
Thank you again for letting me be apart of such an INCREDIBLE OPPORTUNITY. There are days that I want to pinch myself because I am so blessed. Please be in prayer for me and all my workers. I want the kids to have the BEST HOUR OF THEIR WEEK when they are at 5Point!! I want lives to be changed for Jesus every Sunday, and for the devil to stay far away!!
