October 31, Leadership growth
To help me become a better leader I am reading "Leadership Gold" by John Maxwell. It is an awesome book and I'm really enjoying it. While reading Wednesday I was hit square between the eyes with something John said.
Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling some five balls in the air. You name them-----work, family, health, friends and spirit and you’re keeping all of these in the air. You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. But the other four balls---family, health, friends and spirit are made of glass. If you drop one of these, they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged or even shattered. They will never be the same. You must understand that and strive for balance in your life.
Leadership Gold – John C Maxwell
Does that ring true with anyone else besides me? Question for the day, where are you spending the majority of your time? We all need to be careful not to break the glass balls in our life.
Some Random Thoughts:
* Beautiful day outside. Couldn't be any nicer for tonight.
* People are setting up for tonight's activities.
* Asking God to do something special this Sunday.
* Great opportunity to invite people tonight.
* Getting excited about seeing so many unchurched people in our parking lot this evening.
* Had lunch with Jason Wilson (Executive Pastor of New Spring) yesterday and discussed church structure in
great detail. Have begun praying about the changes we need to make here.
* Have next Sunday finished and will begin working on all the sex questions. You wouldn't believe!
* Did FCA this morning at Liberty High School. Went great.
* Can hear people down stairs filling bags full of candy. We have some of the most servant hearted people.
* The staff fasted one day this week for God to move in a great way.
* Headed out the door to exercise and get back to the church for an awesome night!
