Dwain’s Thoughts on being a part of 5point
Dean asked me to share some of the thoughts from my first few weeks on staff at 5point fellowship so here we go:
First I want to say I’m completely amazed and in awe of where God has placed me. It has been a long journey and some hard times to get where I finally know GOD intended for me to serve. I have in the past few weeks been asked by friends and family, “How do you like the church?” I some times just get at a loss for words and can only say I’ve never seen anything like it, I’m just amazed at what God is doing. Every week there is something that brings me to tears If I cried ; ).
I’ve seen students giving their lives over to Christ and not just talking but actually walking out there faith in ways I’ve never seen before. In the past I’ve had to rely on parents or volunteers to help with the students but here the students offer to sever one another and help me without being asked. See I’ve never seen anything like it. There is a true awakening in here among the students. I also have been broken to see a staff that loves each other in ways I’ve never seen before. It’s a team environment with no agenda’s everyone is the others biggest cheerleader. I’ve worked in churches where I so desperately wanted to be a part of this kind of environment and Wow here I am. It’s also a great joy to serve along side a Pastor who I’ve personally seen on his face before God praying for me as a person and for GOD to enable me to lead the students to be on fire in their relationship with Jesus. WOW! One of the best things that I’ve been blessed to see is on a night we had 50 students I saw more than that in Sunday morning worship sitting in the services. That gets me pumped up! Why? Because I’ve never seen anything like it! I had wanted to see this in the years I’ve served in student ministry more students in church than students times because that tells me there is something going on here that means students love their church and when their teen years pass they will still be here. After all isn’t the goal of any ministry to make HIS NAME FAMOUS and be a part of something that will last. Here I am being a part of something lasting! WOW! I’m in AWE of HIM!
My last thought I want to share in this blog if you beg GOD, seek His face, and want to see HIM do AMAZING things that will keep you in AWE, never settle for less, because in the past I have settled for less and saw little. Today I’m at 5point because I decided this past summer settling for less was never going to be acceptable again. I trusted God with a verse (Ephesians 3:20 Now to HIM who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to HIS POWER that is at work within us,) Well, let me share today with tears in my eyes as a write this He is doing more than I ever asked or imagined to be a part of 5point Fellowship.
It almost makes me want to support my pastor and say GO Tig….Not there yet.
