October 24, Looking in the wrong places

I couldn't sleep the other night due to coughing so I got up and tried to watch some Sport Center on ESPN.  I am so ADD that I couldn't focus on anything but the subtitles rolling across the screen.  Someone had accidentally pushed a button on one of the remotes and couldn't figure out how to get the subtitles off.

So, I took all my technical knowledge and began pushing every button on our dish remote.  After 30 minutes of frustration I finally decided to call dish.  With it being mid night I had no problem getting straight through.  I explained my problem and the gentleman (I think he was laughing under his breath) told me that this wasn't a dish problem.  Asked if we used another remote and I had to answer yes.  Explained that was probably where  the problem existed.

Took the other remote and found the button that said subtitle.  Pushed it and guess what, the subtitles disappeared.  Kind of laughed at myself (like the dish guy) but pleased that the problem was solved.

The next morning I had this thought.  What I experienced last night is exactly what the majority of people do in life with their problems.  The usual scenario goes like this:
1.  Try and fix problem myself
2.  Realize I have no clue in what I'm doing
3.  Call someone for help.
4.  If all else fails ask God the Father for guidance

So many people are scared to death right now with everything that is going on in America and they are looking for help in all the wrong places.  Trying to fix problems themselves and when that doesn't work call for help.

All of us need to ask God the Father first and see what happens from there.  I often wonder if God is sitting on his throne laughing at me when I try to fix things myself without asking for His help first.

Some things I need you to pray with me about:
1.  Still don't feel well.
2.  That God will show up Sunday morning and change lives.
3.  Met with elders last night about financial stuff.  Seeking God's will on several items.
4.  Great vision has a great cost.  We need people to trust God in every area of their life.
5.  Land or a building.  The Colony theater is hurting our growth.
6.  We need someone VERY creative people to help with decorating stage for series
7.  Staff.  We have a staff that truly loves Jesus and this church.
8.  Pray that God would continue to use 5 Point to grow His Kingdom

See you Sunday
