October 23, Investing

Our church just turned four years old in September.  During those four years we've seen a lot of great things happen and experienced some very discouraging set backs.  During this time I've met with, had lunch with or just called several Pastor friends.  I needed their wisdom, encouragement and even a shoulder to cry on at times.  Without these guys I'm not sure how our church or myself could have grown.

Something has happened over the past few months that has really shocked me.  I've begun getting calls from other Pastors and staff members wanting to know if they could have lunch with me or come by the church and talk.  My first reaction was I'm too busy.  But then I realized just how busy my Pastor friends always are.

So, anytime a Pastor wants to get together, I look forward to it.  I usually learn as well as give advice.  I love getting together and discussing how to better reach people with the gospel of Jesus Christ.  In fact, I just left Silver Bay after a two hour meeting with a staff member of a local church.  We discussed some of their internal problems and vision.

Let me be honest with you, some of the advice I gave was some of the advice I have learned by hanging out with other Pastors.  From all the leadership books I've read and some form my own mistakes.

I know what some of you are thinking right now, "why are you sharing all of this?"  Because I wonder if you're investing into others?  Just like myself, so often we want to ask people for help but never want to return the favor.  Life is about helping others.  Ask yourself this question, who have I invested into this week, this month and for some even this year.  Begin to help others.  You'll be amazed just how much satisfaction it can bring into your life.

Great News
I spoke at Erskine College's FCA last night.  Not sure how, but the way I got there and the way I came home was entirely different.  The cool thing is that God moved in a mighty way.  5 or 6 college students accepted Jesus into their life for the first time.  I never ever get tired of seeing lives changed.  100% of the time I'm fighting back tears as I'm leading them through the Lord's Prayer.

After these students accepted Jesus it seemed as if God was just getting started.  The floor filled with students as they begged forgiveness for being such cowards when it comes to their walk with Jesus.  Tears were flowing and the Spirit was moving.  I was so jacked up I couldn't sleep when I finally got home (around midnight).  I slept in until 9:00 am and it was glorious.

Prayer Request
I still have this funk going on with my throat.  Please ask God to touch my throat.  Lost my voice again last night and Sunday is getting closer and closer.

This Sunday is done, How can I be sure that I'm saved.  Oh my gosh its going to be good.  Two videos that will rock your world.  One is a personal testimony!  Pray with me that people will trust in Jesus this Sunday!  See you then.
