October 22, Bible reading

I try to read the entire Bible once a year.  The Bible I'm using right now is chronological Bible.  I don't enjoy reading straight through the Bible, I like to get some New Testament as well.  So what I do is read one day of Old Testament and the next form the New Testament.

Last week here are two of the passages I read on the same day:

Hebrews 13:5-6
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,"Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." [6] So we say with confidence,  "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.  What can man do to me?"

Jeremiah 17:5-8
This is what the Lord says:
"Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the Lord. [6] He will be like a bush in the wastelands;he will not see prosperity when it comes. He will dwell in the parched places of the desert, in a salt land where no one lives.  [7] "But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. [8] He will be like a tree planted by the watert hat sends out its roots by the stream.  It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green.  It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit."

What these passages meant to me:
1. God's Word never changes.  His words are still true today.
2. In a time when the majority of people are panicking about the economy and our next president, just keep your
    eyes on Jesus.
3. And if you keep your eyes on Jesus and not man, you' be blessed as ever.
4. No matter who becomes the next president, god is still on his throne.
