October 21, Trust
The third Thursday of the past three months I have spent the day at New Spring with 16 other pastors listening to Perry Noble and some of his key staff on the topic of church growth. This past Thursday was a little different because pastors were allowed to bring two staff member's. As usual, I was rocked with the info given to us. I want to share a thought that has stuck with me since leaving last Thursday.
It wasn't something Perry said but what Jake Beatty asked the staff about their pastors:
1. Do you trust your pastor?
2. Can he trust you?
3. Are you here for the long haul?
4. Who is holding his arms up? Exodus 17:8 if you don't know the story.
I immediately began thinking (and haven't stopped) do I live a life that encourages our staff and people to trust their pastor? My heart's desire is not only to live a life worthy of the staff, our people but for Jesus Christ.
If you don't trust your pastor, how can you follow him? And, if you don't trust your pastor you won't be willing to help hold his arms up when those tough days come along. My prayer is not only for me but for you, the people of 5 Point Fellowship. That together, we can make a difference in this community to glorify Christ and help grow His kingdom.
