Ann's Thought's on Trainig at Newspring

Dean asked if I would share a few things from Pastor’s coaching, so here goes:

A sign of a great leader, he encourages you, invests in your growth, provides opportunities to learn from great conferences like Catalyst and New Spring’s Pastor Coaching to become a better leader yourself, invests his time and energy into making sure you succeed, has a God-given vision, he is contagious and so much more.

I had to ask myself……Do I support my leader and his vision?
Men and women alike have trouble submitting to authority, but as I see Dean’s heart and passion for lost souls and 5 Point, I have no problem submitting to his authority. I hope he realizes that I have his back, even if we don’t agree 100% of the time. As God talks to him and he holds his staff in the air like Moses did during war, I will be there to help Dean when his arms get tired.  Knowing the weight I feel in doing my job at times, I cannot image the weight Dean must carry for the entire church and all of its many parts. Are you willing to protect his God-given vision and the unity of your church?

How can we all do this?
•    Encourage Dean – knowing others appreciate his efforts can be the added fuel he needs to create bold, relevant messages for more life change in us all
•    Trust Dean to lead 5 Point in the direction God has called him to
•    Protect Dean with the honor, love and respect he deserves as he focuses on the battle against Satan
•    Serve with a new attitude and give 100% to the job at hand, so he doesn’t worry
•    Give our tithe or more to support vision and ministry, so he doesn’t worry
•    Protect 5 Point’s Unity – sometimes we have to forgive and move forward, we are all made different, with different opinions and attitudes and we may get our feelings hurt, but the unity of the church must be a priority.
•    Ditch negativity – it drains people, chose to praise God and not be a victim
•    Here’s the big one. Loose our “sense of entitlement” – neither God nor the church OWE us anything, in fact WE are called to cheerfully serve BOTH.

As Dean is on his face for hours each day, praying to God for visions to be laid on his heart for 5 Point, (Dean doesn’t put God in a small box like we do), are we (5 Point) going to be there for him, holding his arms up and supporting our Pastor?

I for one will be there and I challenge each of you to do the same.
