October 1, Filters
This morning as I was putting a load of laundry into the dryer Jacob asked me what the filter was in the dryer and why it was necessary. As we headed out the door I tried to explain to him how the dryer dried the clothes and this filter caught any of the dirt the washer had missed. He took the answer in stride as we headed out the door.
I love taking Jacob to school because it gives me time with my boy early every morning. As I thought about his filter question I threw a question at Jacob. "Jacob, what is the filter in our life?" He thought for a second and responded, "God?" "Isn't He what cleans us up."
HOME RUN! Jacob hit it out of the park. Jesus Christ is our only filter. He is the only one that can wash us clean again. Jesus Christ himself said it this way,
Matthew 26:28
This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
I had the awesome opportunity to speak at Home of the Heart (addiction recovery for men) this morning. As I looked into the eyes of these men I saw emptiness in many. They feel as if they are no use to anyone anymore. Drugs and alcohol have turned their lives into a living hell.
But what I've come to find out with Jesus is that no stain is too big! No sinner is too far gone.
Are you having trouble in your life? Are some of your friends or family deep into sin? Please know the only thing that can clean them white as snow is Jesus. He is our filter to becoming clean.
