September 29, Thoughts on Sunday
Allow me to begin by stating, "I hate teaching on money." I also want to point out that I'm wrong in feeling this way. I'm the first to point out that churched people have a sin meter; we look at certain sins as being worse than others. I'm guilty of not teaching our people the Biblical truths of money. Jesus Christ himself put it this way:
Matthew 6:19-21
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. [20] But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. [21] For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
It is my desire to help our people put Jesus Christ as their treasure. I was very encouraged about the results of yesterday. Here are just a few:
* Great time of worship. (Doing something a little different next week during worship)
* People we're eating up how to get out of debt because the majority are DEEP in debt.
* Giving was about the same, but that is because people don't have it to give.
* Close to 80 people signed up to take the financial class beginning next Sunday pm - WOW! that jacks me up.
* I believe people are finally admitting they want to make a change.
* No one got up and walked out, always a good thing.
* Our marriage improvement on Sunday nights continues to ROCK!
* Lives are being changed and I'm so encouraged and excited about being a part of it.
Don't forget this Saturday (October 4th) is our annual baptism/lake day. We have 20 people signed up to be baptized. It is going to be an awesome day of fun, food, fellowship and most importantly WORSHIP! If you didn't sign up Sunday morning please do so by calling Ann at the church. Church phone is 864-850-0580.
