September 5, Sharing works

A lot of times as a Pastor you receive nothing but bad news.  The death of loved ones, the hurt and pain people are dealing with.  Marriages falling apart, children going nuts, not enough money to pay all the bills.  But every now and then someone shares awesome news with you.

The first e-mail I received this morning jacked me up.  A good friend sent me an e-mail he had received himself earlier this morning.  He's been sharing the gospel with a co-worker and, well read it yourself:

Hey ____________,
I was thinking about this last night and don't think I every said Thank You for the past few months of fellowship (starting with our trip down to ________ on our flight back).  You were right in that the change from not being saved to being saved is night and day.  Everything is different now for both myself and family.  We are now involved heavily in church and are learning how to do things that glorify God and not ourselves.  We are spending every day in scripture reading and have begun family worship.  The Holy Spirit changed my heart to lead me to Christ.  I also believe God chose you for your ministry and witnessing over the past months to help guide me to Christ.  Your witnessing along with your ministering was very helpful.  For that, I owe you a debt of gratitude.

WOW!  That is exactly what were here for.  To share with others what Christ has done in our life.  Let me give everyone some encouragement.  Read how my friend responded:

First I would like to say thank you for affording me that opportunity.  You were really the first person that I spoke so openly to and that is something that I have and still to some degree continue to struggle with.  Your thirst for knowledge made it very easy and I believe that you were put in my path for that reason.  I truly am thrilled for you and your family, there is no greater choice that you will ever make in your life and no greater gift that you can give to your family.  Now you have hope and even though life will be difficult at times, you now have God to turn to knowing that whatever comes your way, as long as you put your faith in Him, you will come through it stronger.  Some things that happen in life are difficult to understand but just always remember that God is in control and as long as your faith is in Him then you can rest assured that His plan for you is simply being carried out!
Brothers in Christ!

Did you catch his first response?  You are the first I've really shared with.  I can remember encouraging this individual to get bolder sharing his faith.  To take captive the thought that people are dying and going to hell every day and were not doing anything about it.  And he took the advice and started sharing.

You and I can do the same thing.  Share openly what Christ is doing in your life.  You can do it!  You have the creator of the universe in your corner rooting you on!  Share with me stories of how God uses you to reach others.  I love hearing how our people are making a difference in the lives of others.
