August 18, Thoughts on Sunday
I woke up Sunday morning with our house shaking form the thunder. My first thought, thank you Father God for rain. My second thought, we might lose the AC at the church. Tim text me at 6:30 that the AC wasn't working. Off to a good start. But the day turned out to be a pretty good one:
* AC was fixed before service. Thank you Randy Bigham.
* Impressed with attendance, especially since last weekend before school starts.
* Had a couple more people give their life to Jesus. Never grow tired of this.
* Tim and the band did a great job as usual. Daniel and Liz were both out of town which made it a little tougher.
* Attendance for the summer has been highest yet. Good things happening.
* A lot of people agreed to help us reach our goal for sell out Sunday on September 7th.
* Several families got involved in a home group during our group link.
* Went home and took a good nap!
Other random thoughts:
* Thinking a lot lately about how to take our church to another level. In doing this we've had three church growth
guys come and evaluate what we do. Had some good advice on some things we must improve on.
* Praying for September 7th on a regular basis.
* Fasting this week from TV. Thats right, no TV until Saturday. Want to spend more time praying and hanging out
with family.
* We have people in our church fasting & praying everyday during the month of August.
* I know this sounds a little cliché, but good things are happening and were building momentum for this fall.
* Had a couple come and share with me that they were leaving the church last week. Didn't agree with our vision
and direction. Appreciate their honesty and hope they find a good church. Always hate to see people leave.
* Two more couples shared with me this week they are barely hanging on. I continue to believe one of Satan's
primary targets are Christian homes.
* We already have numerous men signed up and looking forward to our Porn Recovery getting started.
* Continue to pray about our next and hopefully permanent location.
* I have a meeting with the group going to Africa this November. I have to raise $3,000 so I can go.
* Will discuss some of my thoughts from Pastor's Network last Thursday later in week. Still digesting.
