July 15, Bunch of thoughts
It is 5:00 pm on Tuesday evening and I just finished this weeks message. Power point is being done by Richard, APB which holds the hand out will be finished by Tim and a couple of videos I'm using are just about finished. This allows me to continue working on upcoming messages. Trying to get two to three weeks ahead. This allows everyone involved a chance to help improve our Sunday morning worship experiences.
I've been reading some other pastors blogs the past half hour. It literally blows my mind to see what God is doing at some of my pastor friends churches. I enjoy reading other pastor's blogs because it allows me to keep up with some friends and people I doubt I'll ever meet. The cool thing is that I learn something form all of them, regardless of their size.
Wanted to share with the people of 5 Point some of the things I've been thinking and praying through the past couple of weeks:
* youth pastor
* our process - helping unchurched people become mature Christians
* upcoming series
* decorations for the stage
* how to improve my communication skills
* how to be a better leader
* Africa mission trip - training pastors in Africa
* how to reach more people
* setting up a meeting with the owner of Wal-Mart
* meetings with more pastors and prominent people in our community
* getting our people more involved in the community to help reach more people
* teaching God's Word in a very relevant and creative manner
* fall series, "Thin Ice"
* how to be a better Husband and Father
* the ever on-going problem of losing weight. Lost 4.4 pounds since last Monday. Still hate going to weight watchers meetings with a bunch of women. Once I lose 30 more pounds and I'm skinny asking if I can teach a class at weight watchers in hope of encouraging men to attend. A lot of fat men in world, especially pastors.
* thinking and praying about starting a marriage improvement home group. Open to public
* need to get rid of 8 month old black lab puppy. Live in subdivision and I can't keep her in the fenced in area. Too big for fence. Wonderful dog. Great with kids. If you want please let me know asap.
* Jacob started football practice yesterday
* need a lot more rain
* 50,000 people a day are dying and going to hell
* why aren't we doing more to reach them
* want a motorcycle for gas mileage, rode one yesterday and enjoyed it
* thank God on a regular basis for blessing my life
* thank God for our staff. Do such a good job and continue to put up with me
* I'm going to be a grandpa again - YES!
* have such a desire to see our church become everything God wnts us to be.
