May 8, Mothers Day
Seems as if all men have a soft spot for their momma. How often do you hear big stud athletes saying, "hey Dad"? Why is it that there are Momma jokes but not Daddy jokes? Because we have such a soft spot towards Momma. One of the last things Jesus did before his death was to make sure Mom would be taken care of:
John 19:26-27
When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, "Dear woman, here is your son," [27] and to the disciple, "Here is your mother." From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.
My Mother passed away several years ago from cancer. I miss her terribly at times. And obviously this is one of those times. If your Mom is still living, call her and tell her how much you appreciate her. But her something nice. Give her a hug and a kiss. Sure do wish I could!
I will ever be thankful for my Mom and the influence she had in my life. Sunday after Sunday she drug me to church. I heard the stories of Jesus growing up. I saw her example. While dying a brutal death from lung, liver, stomach and bone cancer she never once complained. Mom just spoke of finally being with Jesus.
The day is coming that Mom and I will see each other again and we'll be doing something we truly loved doing together; worshiping the King of Kings!
To Debbie, thank you for being such a wonderful Mother to our children. Your love, dedication and example is making a huge impact in their life and many others.
