March 27, Leadership part 2 continued

4. Complacency
Complacency is a subtle, but terribly effective enemy to good leadership.  We must fight it daily.  One way is to always depend on Jesus Christ.  Another way, never stop taking some risks.  This is one area I've begun concentrating on with our church and staff.  Changing things up.  Challenging to get out of box.  I want 5 Point to step out on faith and attempt something so BIG that only God could receive the credit.

5. Arrogance
Unfortunately, this is a problem with many potentially good leaders.  Begin to think "I" did it.  Me and I are not in the vocabulary of great leaders unless taking the blame.  All successes go to Jesus or those helping the leader.  Many a person has wanted to be seen on the stage but not help anywhere lese.  Won't be seeing them on the stage!  Remember what scripture teaches, "pride comes before a fall."

6. Delegation
This was a tough one for me to learn during my younger years.  I had the mindset that, "no one could do it as good as me."  When a lot needs to be done and you try to do it all yourself, it ain't all gonna get done.  A great leader finds responsible people and delegates.  To grow leaders you must allow people to take on responsibilities.

Some more thoughts:
* Terry Wood is lined up to sing this Sunday.  I sure do miss seeing Terry on a regular basis and having him lead us in worship.
* We have two other new singers lined up for this week and next.  Tim trying to take band and worship to another level.
* Thank you Liz for being so faithful.  By the way, Liz ain't going no where.  She is still a vital part of our music ministry.
* Making some changes to home groups to try and get more involved.  If your interested in hosting a home or teaching, please let me know.
* Think I have our anniversary weekend location picked.  Deb ain't got a clue.  God bless her, 28 years of marriage and two for dating.  She has put up with me for 30 YEARS!
* Taking Jacob fishing this evening at a friends farm pond.
* I have a meeting in Clemson (heaven; close as you'll get on earth) with a couple of pastors who are helping me some creative ideas.  Gotta run.
