March 26, Leadership part 2

Any great organization has a great leader who produces more great leaders.  5 Point is a great organization with some great leaders.  But for us to become an even bigger and better organization, we must produce more leaders.  As the leader and visionary of 5 Point I take this responsibility very seriously.

As you read through the pages of scripture, leaders used by God were all about producing more leaders.
Moses poured his life into Joshua.  Jesus poured his life into the disciples.  Paul trained Timothy to be a great leader.  The list could continue but I think you get the idea.

Just being around leaders can make someone a better leader.  But, for someone to become a great leader they must put forth the effort.  As I search for people who can lead 5 Point to a whole new level I look for certain traits.  Allow me to share some of those traits with you.

1.  Growth
Every great leader I've ever been around wants to become a better leader.  In other words, they never stop growing.  Developing your skills, character, vision, dependence upon God are all crucial to becoming a better leader.  How does a leader grow?  By reading, hanging around better leaders, listening to other great leaders and attending leadership seminars.

2.  Caring
When someone stops caring for the area they lead, their leadership skills just nose dived.  As we lose our passion we begin to just go through the motions, no longer putting forth our best efforts.

3.  Listening
Listening and being sensitive to others is vital in any leaders life.  This is one area I truly struggle in.  I'm so stinking ADD its hard to focus.  But that is no excuse not to try and get better. Great leaders are not scared to hear constructive criticism and suggestions.  I've come to find out I learn a lot more by listening than speaking.

I will give you some leadership traits tomorrow.

Couple of Thoughts:
* I changed my e-mail address because I was being overwhelmed with e-mails.  I'd have 40 - 50 a day at times.  I always responded to each one.  I was spending way tooooooo much time answering questions and responding.
So, do not get your feelings hurt when you ask for my e-mail and you do not receive it.  Ann is taking all e-mails and answering or responding.  She forwards any to me that need my attention.  Do not be upset, I am only becoming a better leader by doing this.  Can't you see God in heaven above impressed with my e-mail skills?  NOT!  But I will be held accountable for how I teach His Word to others.  Thanks for understanding.
* I need wedding pictures.  Our next series is entitled, "Pimp my Life."  One area we all need over hauled every now and then is our marriages.  Were going to have a little fun with the introduction.  Please bring us your wedding picture or e-mail them to Miss Ann.  You will get all pictures back.
* Began riding my bike again.  Oh my legs hurt.  During Pimp my life one message is on our temples, our bodies.  Hope to weigh below 280 by then.  Training for tris has picked up.
