March 17, Thoughts about Sunday

I absolutely hate teaching about money.  I know it upsets people and to be honest, they have the right to be upset.  So many churches, businesses, scam artist etc. are out to get our money.  So, anytime I speak about money I try not to come across as we need your money.  My heart is to help people in their walk with Jesus Christ and that includes their finances.

I have come to find out anytime you preach on sin, people get upset.  George Barna points out that only 2.9 percent of Christians tithe.  Tithe meaning they give 10 percent of their income to Jesus.  That statistic breaks my heart.  Christians do not understand the blessings they are missing when they won't give 10 percent of their income to Jesus but give 16 percent to Master Card.

In saying that; yesterday rocked.  Could have been, no it was the best worship service I've experienced when the topic was money.  God was all over the place.  Three adults gave their life to Christ during a message on giving.  Now that is nothing but a God thing!

Here are some comments about yesterday's worship:
* Thank you 5 Point for educating us.  Our life is different because of it.
* Today's lesson really spoke to me.  Made me think about how to think about everything in my life.
* The message was so truthful.  I plan to put it to the test.
* Loved the way you used the money falling from ceiling and buckets to illustrate point.
* I love this church and I love the way God's Word is taught.
* Could be the best message I've ever heard.
* God was all over this place.
* Thank you Dean for tackling the tough topic.s  Never back down.

This is only some of the comments.  I received many more after the service personally and some by phone.  And all this on a message I didn't want to teach.  WOW!  Never under estimate God and what He can do.

Last thought on giving:

Romans 8:32
He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all--how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

If God is willing to give up His son for me, why wouldn't I be willing to give him just a small portion of what he has already given me?

Have you begun inviting for this Sunday.  I promise you this Sunday will rock your world.  We're doing some stuff off the hook designed for your unchurched friends and family.
