March 11, Ask and you shall receive

Last Friday I tried it again.  Went fishing with my son Andrew, Mike Roland and a guide.  It rained for four solid hours.  I was soaked from head to toe.  The rain stopped and out of nowhere there was wind blowing at least 25 - 30 hours.  I'm not kidding, there were waves 5 - 6 feet high.  I was actually a little scared.  We got out of the wind by going into a cove and hung out there for an hour or so.  We only had two fish in the boat, neither caught by me.  As the wind died down I tried something a little different.

I didn't tell anyone what I was doing, I just started praying out loud.  I let God know my heart.  Told him I knew there were a lot of bigger problems in the world, but if he didn't mind I'd love for us to catch some fish.  I'm not kidding, before I had finished Andrew had a ten pound striper on.  It was awesome.

After he got the fish in the boat I thanked God (out loud again) and asked if he didn't care if Mike could catch one.  I AM NOT KIDDING, before I finished praying Mike caught a good fish.  After getting the fish in the boat, I thanked God and asked if He didn't mind I'd love to catch something.  Please hear me, it wasn't sixty seconds and I caught a 15 pound striper.  And then it broke lose.  The fish went into a feeding frenzy.  We easily caught over a 100 pounds of striper.  It was awesome!  Thak you Jesus!!!!!!!!!

What does this have to do with finances?  I know for a fact God truly cares about the matters of your heart.  If you desire to become debt free, ask God to help you.  You can't pray, "God, please let me win the lottery."  That ain't gonna happen.  But if you're willing to make some life changes and trust God with your finances, watch out.

Here is the deal.  I went through this several years ago.  Got debt free and went stupid again.  Deb and I are very close to being debt free again.  We owe on our house, Andrew's student loan and one vacation package.  Then we are debt free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  We pay an extra $300.00 a month on the house.  I hate the interest.

If we can beg God, make some life changes and trust God with our finances, so can you.  I promise you, I'm smoking the stuff I'm selling on Sunday mornings.

I debated even writing this but the people who read this know my heart.  Deb and I are in the top three givers in our church.  We're giving close to 20%.  I just trust God that much.  I want God's blessing on my life so I decided to trust Him with everything, including my finances.
