January 31, Love through Hudson

Upon graduating from Clemson university (1986)  Debbie & I headed to Green Sea, South Carolina.  I would be teaching school, coaching football and basketball.  Deb worked at a local bank.  Life was good.  But we both missed our family and friends back in Wise, Virginia.  We would head home as much as possible.  The only problem, eight hours of driving.  The longer we remained in Horry County, the fewer the trips.  Eventually our trips turned into holidays and special events.  I said all that for this, I use to get so mad at my parents and Debbie's.  I'd drive all night long and soon as the head lights hit the drive way they we're running outside grabbing those Grand babies.  I didn't expect a parade but a basic hello would have been nice.  Eventually they recognized that I was actually home also.

The tables have turned.  Both my parents and Deb's Dad are gone.  I apologized to Bonnie (Deb's Mom) over the holidays.  Hudson (pictured above and my Grandson) is a HUGE part of our life.  I see him almost on a daily basis.  And, when I see the head lights pulling into the drive way I'm the first at the door grabbing the boy.  When his little hands reach for me it literally melts my heart.  I love him so much it hurts.  Lawson & Shell make fun of me because they say he gets whatever he wants from me.  They are right!  I spoil the boy rotten.  I fell head over heels in love with the boy the moment I saw him in the hospital.  I would literally lay my life down for Hudson or any of my immediate family.

Just think with me, if a human can love another human like this, imagine the way our heavenly Father loves us.
I can't wait to lift my arms to Jesus and see the love he has for me.  It'll go beyond any love I've ever given or experienced.  I love the way scripture says it:

1 John 3:16a
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.

Jesus didn't just think it or talk about it, he did it and he did it for me.  WOW!  That blows my mind.  The longer I live the more I realize just how meaningless STUFF is and how important my family and loved ones are.  You can take anything I have, but don't take my family.  I truly believe Jesus could care less about STUFF, he cares about you and me.  Thank you Jesus for my family.  Thank you for loving me enough to allow me to be a part of your family.  I long to be with you for eternity!
