September 5 - Begging God

John 16:24
Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.

Christ himself said we don't receive because we don't ask.  I've finally began asking.  I'm reading a book called, "Go Big" by Bil Cornelius and Bill Easum for the second time.  Its helped me to understand we should have a desire to reach as many people as possible.  I've always been scared to talk about growth because I didn't want anyone to say 5 Point was only worried about numbers.  I've come to a point as pastor of 5 Point, I am worried about numbers.  I've begun asking God to do God sized things here.  For lives to be changed every week.  For every chair to have a person sitting in it  because they represent a soul.  I love how Christ puts it:

Luke 14:23
"Then the master told his servant, 'Go out to the roads and country lanes and make them come in, so that my house will be full.

I believe when God's house is empty it belittles and dishonors the King.  And it's our job to bring them in.
This Sunday we kick off our "I Screwed Up" series and I'm begging God to fill every seat in both services.  But we do play a part in this.  Begin inviting, encouraging your unchurched friends and family to be here.  I'll make a promise to you.  If you'll get them here the staff of 5 Point will not embarrass you with a poor worship service.  God has given us a series that is going to help grow His kingdom.  Let's quit making excuses and get out into the roads and lanes so that God's house may be full.

Some things you can do to help this Sunday be everything God wants it to be:
1.  Come to the Saturday night service at 6:00 pm so you can serve on Sunday.
2.  PRAY BIG.  God laid on my heart the number 800 in attendance and 100 salvations months ago.  Don't think
we can't reach that goal, remember, we serve a BIG God!
3.  Park across the street.  Free up parking for visitors.
4.  Sit in the front and middle of worship auditorium.  Allows visitors to sit in back and on edge.
5.  Come to the first service if possible.  The second will be packed out.
6.  Don't be late.  Come early and welcome people.
7.  PRAY BIG.  Did I mention this yet?  Pray for the following:
      a.  Band - lead us to the throne room of God.  Tim, Terry and Liz as they sing.
Jeremy, Grant, Tim and Cole as they lead.
      b.  All technical stuff to go smoothly
      c.  Children's worship.  Lawson, Michelle and all volunteers.
      d.  Volunteers will make EVERY person feel welcome regardless.
      e.  Dean Herman - pray that God will anoint me in a special way.
      f.  Invitation time - people to be saved.  Life change.

I am jacked up about Sunday.  I was up until 1:30 am last night.  Haven't been able to sleep lately.  Not sure why but I think it has to do with what God is up to here at 5 Point!
