July 17

Tuesday morning I got up early so I could just hang out with God before I started a busy day.  Some point during this time I always think about our Sunday services.  My main thought, "was God pleased?"  I believe God was pleased Sunday morning.  I could feel Him as we worshiped (maybe not during Staying Alive) and sang praises.  I know God is always pleased when His children and others make commitments, and there were a lot made this Sunday.

That led my brain to another thought.  As all of us (preacher included) made commitments about our mouths, are we going to actually try and follow through?  So many times our commitments are a lot like my diets, start every Monday morning and off again by lunch.  Let's try and keep this commitment by giving our tongues and mouths to the glory of Christ and not self or the world.  Man that's gonna be hard.  I enjoy running my mouth.  No surprise I know, but glorifying Christ must come first.  Pray for me as I pray for our church to control our tongues.

I want to publically lift up our staff.  They do a great job.  Many of you never see Michelle and Lawson as they lead our children's worship.  Just had a great random thought.  I'm going to video part of a children's service and show it on a Sunday morning.  Our children are truly having fun as they learn about Jesus.

Tim has been with me for more than six years now.  God bless him!  He does an awesome job in leading our worship and helping me.  I could leave 5 Point tomorrow and the church would never miss a beat.  We lose Tim and it would be tough to replace him.  He also does all the technical stuff and finances.  Thanks Tim for all your help and faithfulness.

Terry is our newest addition.  He's been here since Decemebr.  I met Terry when I was a Youth Pastor myself.  Been buddies four years or so.  He's really helped Tim in leading worship.  Gives Tim some freedom on the stage and allows someone else to sing.  Terry also works with our teens and has just begun heading up our home groups.  All the graphic designs you see are usually done by him also.  Thank you Terry and I look forward to seeing God use you at 5 Point in a great way.

I just had another thought (you have no idea how many of these things keep popping up).  As much as the staff helps, we couldn't have a Sunday morning without all our volunteers.  A special thank you to each and every one.  5 Point is growing and you play a major part in that.

Let me sneak this in on the back side.  I've contacted a Christian counselor.  I know what many are thinking or saying, "it's about time."  I haven't jumped off the deep end or going into some type of depression.  Many of my pastor friends are doing this and said it helps greatly.  If you hear that I'm spending time at a counselors office, it is true but nothing is wrong.

I want to get back to work on Sunday morning.  We're all going to be challenged again this Sunday.
See you then.
